I met Edmina at an event in earlier in the year and since then her wedding planning business, Coordinated for you, has blossomed and so I was excited to share with you this styled shoot which she directed. I managed to get a few moments with Edmina to ask her a some questions.
Where did the inspiration for the shoot come from? Initial inspiration came from the natural surroundings. I knew I wanted to shoot outdoors and be able to incorporate elements of elegance, chic and glamour. I believe it can be so easy to go for a rustic-like theme when styling in such natural settings, so I decided to go in the completely opposite direction and adopt an ‘all things pretty’ theme. The colour palette came from the wedding stationery, in which I decided to use dusky pinks, plums, shades of grey and accents of silver.
The ultimate goal was to put together a styled shoot that a couple, wanting both natural surroundings and ‘chic’ could have for their own special day. I hope the shoot will inspire brides that long for their big day to be filled with 'elegance','chic' 'glamour' and 'prettiness', all in one. Also, it may inspire couples that want an outdoor wedding e.g., garden wedding, but also don't want to compromise style. If I had to pick out some of my favourite details it would have to be the little things, such as the cute bow tie on the ring bearer's suit and the Symphoricarpos berries in the centerpieces. At the end of the day, they do say its the little things that matter!!
What are your top 3 wedding trend predictions for 2013? As always we are seeing an abundance of wedding trends coming to light for 2013, however wedding lounges, lace and 'doing it your way' make it into my top 3!
Wedding lounges are sooo cool! And can be such a great feature in a couple's wedding. No matter the style or theme of a wedding it can be pulled off. For example, a vintage wedding could have vintage single-seater chairs, couches, along with antique looking stools and chest of draws. On the other hand, for a couple going for a clean modern look, they may have futuristic looking block-like sofas, square glass tables along with cushions and draped curtains.
No matter what year or season lace never fails to amaze! It is one of my favourite fabrics when it comes to wedding dresses and designers always find a way to re-invent it. The 2013 bridal collections from Vera Wang, Marchesa and St Pucchi show us exactly how it's done.
Finally, I think doing what suits the bride and groom, and planning a wedding that reflects their personalities is a trend that will never fade! When a couple goes with their own ideas, rather than what's in, they produce something that's much more memorable. More and more couples are 'doing what they want'....you don't have to coordinate all your bridesmaids dresses to one colour and you don't have to have a wedding cake, just because its tradition. Why not have pies instead! The trend has even been reflected in the recent change to wedding ceremonies now being able to take place at different times.
