Beautiful Ballet...part two

As you'll know from the last post Mr BelleNoir took me to the Royal Opera House, we went to see the Mariinsky Ballet perform in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the first time the company visited the UK.

We had fantastic seats, 3 rows from the front!!! And the programme consisted of six ballets including the classic Swan Lake and Giselle amongst others and two mixed bills. We went to see one of the mixed bills Balanchine/Robbins which features 3 acts Scotch Symphony, In the Night and Ballet Imperial.

'Scotch Symphony' which was good but wasn't my favourite. However, the remaining two acts were right up my street.

'In the Night' featured 3 couples and was filled with emotion, each of the couples dances told a different story... the dancers demonstrated such real emotion and I could see all facets of my relationship being danced before my eyes.

The final performance was a spectacular explosion which looked as though it incorporated every dancer in the company. It was set against a sky blue back-drop which illuminated the stage and gave it a magical feel. The dancing was energetic, graceful and sensuous, it was amazing and gave me tons of wedding inspiration. So watch this space for a ballet inspired wedding board!

The Beautiful Ballet has only served to wet my appetite, next on the list is the Harlem Ballet Company, I might have to make it my mission to get them to the UK! I'm also really keen to check out Ballet Black, the only black British ballet company.

I will also be re-starting lessons but this time I'm going to check out Coconut Grove studios, I'll let you know how I get on.
