It's real wedding time on BelleNoirBride and today we're very lucky as not only are there an array of beautiful images to ponder over but the bride, Marilyn, has also been kind enough to put together a wedding report. I love the way these pictures show the emotion of the day, from the beautiful couple to the guests, everyone looks like they are having a fantastic time. The photos were taken by David Nash Photography.
Marvin and I had been dating for just over two years when he popped the big question! Getting married was extremely important to us and we wanted a wedding that represented us as a couple and that included our friends and family who are a massive part of our lives.
Planning a wedding is like a full time job in itself! As a fairly young couple we didn't have an unlimited budget we did however have lots of talented friends and family members and were keen to play their part in helping out wedding be a success.
Both being born again Christians, it was important that the ceremony was deeply religious. Our wedding took place in the Greenwich Seventh Day Adventist Church, we had the privilege of our pastor marrying us which was quite sentimental as he has known us both since our childhood days. There was a full live band with worship sets. Our 'congregationtional hymn' said a lot about our relationship with each other and God.
I ordered my wedding dress from Deco Bridal in Hither Green, I choose Ellis design #11224 as it made me feel like royalty when I tried it on! I'm quite a decisive person when it comes to what I like and don't like so finding 'the one' was fairly easy.
I ordered my flowers from my local florist located in Plaistow, East London called Kirkham Florist, she is really talented as I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she was able to recreate it and make it even better than the picture.
Purple has been my favourite colour since forever! So it was a natural choice for my colour scheme. The bridesmaids dresses were bought from Font Hill Road in Finsbury Park, you have to hunt to find what you want but when you do get it, it's worth it (you can also haggle them down too!). Their sweeping buns were done courtesy of our talented friend Jenese East!
Our reception was held at the JK Banquet Hall in Forest Hill. We had a large number of guests with 225 attending so we needed to fit them all in one place without paying the world!
The hall was quite a blank space that we were able to decorate to our taste, we were also able to bring in our own caterers and didn't have to pay a corkage fee for providing our own drinks.
We had our friend, Andre Palmer, sing a song that he wrote for our reception as well as my sister and dad sing a Whitney Houston number. Our reception was filled with jokes and laughter, our MC was a good friend of Marvin's so he knew us both very well. It all had a family feel to it, everybody felt relaxed and it just felt overwhelming that everybody celebrated our love and wanted the best for us.
