Today's post is aimed at helping you to save a few pennies so that you have more money to spend on the prettier wedding items. We all know weddings can be incredibly expensive and there are always things that crop up that you haven't included in the budget. For me the humble postage stamp was one of those things, and on hearing in the news this week that stamps are going up in price, it is a further squeeze on those wedding budgets.
A 1st class stamp currently costs 46p and a 2nd class is 36p, however come Monday, 30 April 2012 this will be increasing to 60p and 50p. If you are sending out 100 invitations then you are looking at between £50 and £60 just on stamps and that is if your invitations only require one stamp. If you have gone for heavier or bulkier invitations then you may well need more.
Whether you are getting married this year or next it is worth bulk buying stamps before the price rise. As long as the stamps you are buying say ‘1st’ or ‘2nd’ rather than a price, then they're still valid after prices go up.
In addition, Superdrug is currently offering 5% off books of 1st class stamps until Tuesday, 10 April 2012 so it's a chance to save even more.
Once you've factored in the stamps required for your invitations and your thank-you cards it could be a substantial saving, and after all every little helps.
